‘Sustainability: What it means with regard to Architecture’


This thesis considers what sustainability means to architecture, and how architects could utilise their knowledge in order to only ensure a more responsibly future for buildings, but to promote a better understanding of sustainability on a far wider degree. The areas under study incorporate an appraisal of the technical, social, and financial and energy-saving aspects of sustainable growth. Research proposes that step-by-step research and study into what sustainability means can help the concept for being more fully understood and much better implemented in industry. Research is secondary, and uses 3 case studies which I get selected for their relevance in order to my design interests and also which I believe represent an original and innovative approach to the theory and interpretation of sustainability in architecture.
